More Than Gold: Why Investors in People Recognised MPA

Bulletin details

We’re delighted to share that MPA has once again achieved Investors in People Gold accreditation. This isn’t just a badge of honour for the business — it’s recognition of the incredible people across our offices in Northern Ireland who bring our values to life every day.

Achieving Gold is no small feat. It takes more than just good processes — it takes a strong, supportive culture, and a team that believes in what we do and how we do it.

Nicky McConville, Managing Director, said:
“A positive workplace culture doesn’t happen by chance. It’s something we’ve all built together over time. It takes effort, trust, and the willingness to support one another, and this recognition is proof that we’re getting it right, not just in our own eyes, but through independent, rigorous assessment.”

Proud of How We Work

Since 1997, we’ve grown from a single office to a network across Northern Ireland and beyond. But we’ve never lost sight of what matters — doing things the right way, with integrity and care. Values born into the business by our founder, Mary Pat Anderson.

The IiP report praised our professional, friendly, and people-first culture, highlighting how our values aren’t just words — they’re how we work, with each other and with our clients.

We scored 95 points above the Investors in People average.

Leadership That’s Open and Trusted

Our leadership team was described as honest, approachable, and respected — not just by title, but through action. There's no “them and us” at MPA. Managers are seen as part of the team, offering support, not control.

The smooth transition to our new Managing Director, Nicky — someone who’s been with MPA for over 15 years — showed the strength of that core leadership team. As one team member put it:
“I matter, I am recognised, I can approach managers, and I’ve found a career here.”

Trusting People to Do Great Work

At MPA, trust isn’t a buzzword — it’s a reality. According to the report:

  • 97% of employees feel encouraged to use their initiative
  • 91% say they’re trusted to make decisions
  • 91% feel they’re trusted to do their job without being micromanaged

That kind of empowerment creates confidence, ownership, and pride in what we do.

“We’re encouraged to think — nothing is ever considered silly. I’m doing things I never thought were possible.”

Supporting Performance, Without Pressure

Our approach to performance is simple: set clear goals, offer support, and give people space to grow. Whether it’s through regular one-to-ones or team reviews, people know what’s expected and how they’re doing.

Since our last review, we’ve improved our systems, strengthened communication, and made sure performance management is about people — not just numbers.

Rewarding People Properly

We’ve worked hard to build a reward and benefits package that truly reflects the effort people put in — from flexible working and wellness support to a refreshed bonus scheme.

93% of people said they feel recognised for their work, and newcomers frequently say our approach compares favourably to their previous employers.

Looking Forward, Together

Most importantly, MPA is a place people love to work. In fact, 100% of staff said they understand how their role contributes to the organisation — and 97% believe we’re focused on continuous improvement.

We’ve built something special, and we’re proud of how far we’ve come — but we’re not done yet.

We’re continuing to:

  • Build confidence and leadership in every team
  • Keep our values front and centre
  • Recognise great work in meaningful ways
  • Listen to our team
  • Involve everyone in what comes next

This Gold award is something we’re proud of. But what makes it truly special is the team behind it.

Here’s to what we’ve built — and what we’re building together.
